I feel using three would just make the finished product too thick. Because the glitter particles vary in size and are so densely packed into the base, it quickly builds to opaque with only three coats though I opted to use two coats as it doesn’t need to be opaque under the crackle. Spark de Triomphe is a clear based glitter. The only downside to the Pro Wide brush is that it can be too wide for slim fingers or little toes.īeing that we’re talking about two very different kinds of polish in each duo, I will address the formulas individually. It’s of average stiffness and easily spreads out on the nail when pressed. The OPI Pro Wide brush is flat, wide and medium in length. I just wish OPI had changed the color of the print on the labels so buyers can identify 4-Free polishes like they did when they made the switch to 3-Free. This is a new development as OPI’s pre-Texas were only 3-Free. wins!įormula & Application: OPI nail polishes are now 4-Free (including formaldehyde resin) and free of camphor, which can be an irritant. Unlike the Katy Perry collection that left me pretty indifferent, the polishes in this collection are. If you’ve read my previous shatter/crackle reviews you know I’m not all in on this look but the base colors in this collection really drew me in. While I was expecting to want to tear right into the Pirates polishes I was taken completely aback by the two Glam Slam! Duos. All opinions are my own.In Crackle, Glitter, OPI, Pink, Red, Spring 2010, White OPI is hitting us hard this May with THREE new launches Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Blue Shatters and Serena Glam Slam! France. I was not financially compensated for this post by neither of the named companies. DISCLOSURE: I purchased all of the mentioned products myself. If you hold the want too far from the nail the pattern may come out blurred – see image above… NOTES For best result paint your nails first like you would use regular nail polish and then apply second coat, nail by nail, holding the wand for couple of seconds over the freshly painted nail. With the magnetic nail polish have in mind that the closer the wand to nail polish surface the sharper the pattern. The thicker layer of shatter top coat the bigger, bolder crackles will be. When using crackle nail polish be sure to let the base coat dry properly first before applying shatter top coat to avoid smudged colours. Magnetic nail polishes come with different wands / magnets to create not only star shaped pattern but also waves, swirls and many more designs. I’m actually quite amazed myself how easy to create the pattern was… although next time I will need to keep the wand in even distance over the nails to get the pattern correct. My daughter calls it “magic nail polish” and says it musts contain some magic potion from Papa Smurf. I was very curious how it would work and I’m quite pleased with this “almost” professional effect. “noname” magnetic nail varnish in denim blue with star shaped wand Neither me nor my daughter could get convinced to the white Rimmel Crack Your Colour – Break The Ice varnish, it looks more like correction pen than nail polish in my opinion but I will give it a try in different combinations and update this post shortly…
